Mother from Belgrade, back when a country called Yugoslavia still existed, and father from Siena. I was educated between Siena, Arezzo, and Boston, where I earned a Ph.D. in Performance History at Tufts University, after a degree in English and Russian Languages and Literatures from the University of Siena. I've spent a good deal of time in Germany and in Belgrade. I live in Florence. For now.

Before Florence, I worked at Monash University in Prato and in other international programs. Since 2011 I've directed Syracuse University's program in Florence, and since 2024 I've also served as Director of Global Innovation for Syracuse Abroad.

I write out of physiological need. I have published books, articles, poems — moving, not always smoothly, between languages, and between academic and creative work. For a while I contributed to HuffPost Italia. I teach intercultural communication and management, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence in education. I speak regularly on these topics at conferences and seminars. The question that drives all of it is the same one: how do we become who we are? Choice, conformity, education? How much of who we are is really up to us?

Madre belgradese, quando esisteva ancora un paese chiamato Jugoslavia, e padre senese. Mi sono formata tra Siena, Arezzo e Boston, dove ho conseguito un dottorato in Performance History a Tufts University, dopo una laurea in Lingue e Letterature Inglese e Russa all'Università di Siena. Ho passato tanto tempo in Germania e a Belgrado. Vivo a Firenze. Per il momento.

Prima di arrivare qui ho lavorato alla sede di Prato di Monash University e in altri programmi internazionali. Dal 2011 dirigo il programma di Syracuse University a Firenze, e dal 2024 sono anche Direttrice di Global Innovation per Syracuse Abroad.

Scrivo per necessità fisiologica. Ho pubblicato libri, articoli, poesie — muovendomi, non sempre con fluidità, tra lingue e tra scrittura accademica e creativa. Per un periodo ho scritto per HuffPost Italia. Insegno comunicazione e management interculturale, con un'attenzione particolare all'intelligenza artificiale nell'educazione. Ne parlo regolarmente a conferenze e seminari. La domanda che guida tutto questo è sempre la stessa: come diventiamo ciò che siamo? Scelta, omologazione, educazione? Quanto di ciò che siamo dipende davvero da noi?
